Swimwear usually comes with sand, water and a horizon. Perlito Celano took the red crochet bikini somewhere else: a row of white garage doors, a dark underpass, the seat of an old hatchback. The sea shows up only once, at the very end, behind a line of parked boats.
The editorial, with model Eliya Ca, has not been published anywhere before. Perlito shot it on medium format Kodak Gold 200 and also did the art direction. Gold is a warm, forgiving film, and here it has a lot to work with — tanned skin, faded denim, and the flat white of concrete under a high sun.
“A summer story away from the beach. Swimwear meets concrete, denim and harsh summer light, turning everyday urban surroundings into a fashion landscape.”
Most of the story happens at the edge of shadow. The light comes in hard and at an angle, cuts across a wall or a body, and leaves the rest almost black. Gold 200 holds the skin tones warm in the bright parts and lets the garage interiors fall away.
“A cinematic approach to fashion, working exclusively with film since 2019. Light, texture and environment become part of the story.”
