A trip to Italy, by Matthew Wilkinson

"I don't think you can beat the look of film."

Tell us about yourself.

My names Matthew Wilkinson and I’m a wedding/lifestyle and music photographer from Norfolk in the U.K.

When and how did the film journey begin for you?

I started shooting film about 2 years ago, I’ve always liked the thought of doing the whole process myself, from taking the shot, developing it, to printing an image in the darkroom and I don't think you can beat the look of film.

What camera makes you click?

I use a Leica M6, Hasselblad 501cm and I recently bought a Mamiya 7, which I absolutely love, the 6x7 negatives look stunning!

What inspires you most?

I never really have a specific idea or subject when I go out shooting, If I see something I like, I’ll shoot it.

But I will take my time composing the image before I press the shutter.

A lot of my inspiration comes from music and film, but theres a couple of youtube channels that have helped a lot in my film journey, they are Matt Day, The Art of Photography and Negative Feedback.

Tell us a bit about your shots from Italy.

These shots are from my recent trip to Italy, where I was also lucky enough to test out the new Lomo Instant Automat before it was released.

All these shots are from the Leica M6 and the Hasselblad 501cm.
