Tell us about yourself.

I am 34. I was born in India but have been living in United States for last 14 years. I work in a management consulting firm.

When and how did the film journey begin for you?

My father was a film photography enthusiast and I have always liked photography. My father shot hundreds of photos as I was growing up. I started dabbling with small cameras when I was 21 and able to afford a camera. But I bought my first serious camera, a DSLR, only in 2009.

A couple of years later in 2011 I was visiting India and I found my father's old camera - Praktica MTL3. I shot a roll without knowing anything about metering but after developing the roll, I got hooked. I loved the process of taking a photo with a full manual setup. I bought more film cameras and then finally in 2012 I sold all my digital gear.

What type of film do you usually shoot and what made you choose it?

For evening and night shots I like Ilford Delta 3200. I like the results in very low light (like 1600) and it can be used at 800 as well. For day time, I like Kodak Portra 400 because it is very versatile.

What camera makes you click?

My favorite is my Hasselblad 501cm. I also have a Zeiss Ikon ZM and my father's old Praktica.

Between black and white and colour film which would you choose?

I like bw more because it is more versatile and it makes you focus on composition more.

What lenses do you use?

I love Zeiss lenses. I have the 80mm Planar and 150mm Sonnar for the Hassy. I also have the Planar 50mm for the Zeiss Ikon ZM.
