Tell us about yourself.

I am recently turned 27 and come from a small town called Gourock on the banks of the River Clyde Estuary. I now live in Hyndland in the West End of Glasgow working as an MI Analyst for a bank.

When and how did the film journey begin for you?

My film journey only started a month or so ago when I picked up my Dad's Olympus OM-2n which he bought with his 21st birthday money in 1981. A friend of mine let me know where I could get some reasonably priced film (Agfa Vista Plus) to get practicing with.

The abandoned hotel I found in the middle of nowhere when I went out cycling in Lanzarote, it was really post apocalyptic, gave me the chills!

What type of film do you usually shoot and what made you choose it?

I have been using Agfa photo Vista 200 which I can get from a pound shop, I find it to be every economical whilst I get to grips with film photography.

The flowers were on the patio of my villa in Lanzarote.

What camera makes you click?

I would really love to pick up a Mamiya 645! I love the depth and detail of the images taken on this camera. My ultimate aim would be to start printing my images so I think this would be the camera for the job rather than a 35mm.

Between black and white and colour film which would you choose?

Blue skies and vibrant colours are normally what catch my attention, however, my friend Emma bought me some Ilford 400 black and white film for my birthday. I am in Lanzarote for the next fortnight and am looking forward to cycling out to the lava fields to experiment with it. The lunar landscape here will make for some truly Martian captures I hope.

What lenses do you use?

I am currently using a Zuiko 50mm 1.8, I have little experience with such a lens but I like the intimacy of it. You have to really get up to your subject. My girlfriend has been an excellent model to practice on!
