Norbert Eleryk: A medium format love story

"Film never dies !!!"

Tell us about yourself.

Hey. I'm originally from Poland but I live in London for the last 11 years. I'm 34 years old and I work in the casino as a croupier and I'm in the process of starting to organise photographic workshops.

When and how did the film journey begin for you?

My first memory is when my dad gave me my first camera (age 10) it was simple Kodak film camera which I took with me for a school trip. When I came back he developed my pictures and he was not impressed with me because I wasn't in any of the pictures. Instead the photographs were all landscape pictures. After some time I got a digital camera because it was easier and cheaper. In 2008 I took photography more serious so I bought myself a semiprofessional digital camera but I didn't really like the results so 2 years late I switch to film. That was a pentacon six. After this I fell in love with medium format so I start collecting old film cameras and trying them one by one till now.

What Could we always find in your gear bag?

At the moment I'm using mostly Mamiya RZ67 proII with 110mm 2.8 + variate of bw and colour film.

What camera makes you click?

Difficult to tell, I think any medium format gives me a lot of excitement.

Who are your models?

When I shoot I mostly focus on the little story with emotions. I like to bring feelings to my pictures and show them, not only pretty naked girls.

What inspires you most?

Mostly photographers I admire.

Do you have any advice for film photographers out there?

Shoot shoot shoot and one more time shoot !!! The Film never dies !!!
