"I cannot look through the digital camera, only film."

Tell us about yourself.

I am 22 years old, I’m from Zaporozhye, Ukraine. I recently graduated from University and realized that the legal specialization is not for me. But on the professional plan, I didn't succeed to link my work with film photography in my country. My life consists of freelance activities and mini trips, taking photographs throughout Ukraine.

When and how did the film journey begin for you?

I always enjoyed taking pictures of people and I shot digital since my early years. But someday, a while ago I saw some series of film photos and I realized that I had to buy a Zenit camera, which by the way became a constant for me to this day. It was about 6 years ago. Since then I cannot look through the digital camera, only film.

What Could we always find in your gear bag?

My Zenit, a lot of clothes, things for photo shootings and film rolls, of course.

What camera makes you click?

My favorite camera is Zenit – EM. Sometimes I take photographs with an Olympus, but only when my arms fall off the previously camera.

Who are your models? How do you interact with them before shooting?

At the beginning, they were my friends. But then, I wanted new faces for fresh ideas. I found models or people who are not associated with the modeling, but I liked their appearance and offered to take pictures of them.
I just show them my work and talk to them about my idea.

What inspires you most?

Some places or one thing can inspires me for a whole photo session. And then imagination completes the full picture in my head.

Do you have any advice for film photographers out there?

Set goals and achieve them.
