Tell us about yourself.

Hi, I'm Khánh Hmoong, a 35-year-old film photographer based in beautiful Nha Trang city in Vietnam.

When and how did the film journey begin for you?

started taking pictures since the late of 2010 and mostly with film till now. The story began when my friends introduced me to film photography and I enjoyed it since then.

What type of film do you usually shoot and what made you choose it?

I shoot mostly on 35mm with my Nikon FM camera. I love Fuji Superia the best because of their colours and their grain.

What camera makes you click?

My favorite Nikon FM camera, I love it because I feel comfortable every time I use it. It got everything that I want in it, nostalgia as well. I also love the LC-A Lomo camera, but I'm sad that it has broken a month ago. I'm also using a Yashica Mat 124-G for 120mm format. I love this Yashica camera because it's easy to use.

Between black and white and colour film which would you choose?

I love them both, especially black and white film on portraits that I did with my models.

What lenses do you use?

I prefer the 50-mm lens, I'm using a Nikkor 50-mm f1.4; I also use a wide lens for landscapes when I travel or sometimes use it for my street photos too.

Do you make any experiments on film?

Just shoot whatever you like and watch a lot of photos of photographers that you love or idol and learn from them. Just take pictures and learn experiences yourself. For film photography, try to destroy films as much as you can and you'll see some interesting results that digital can't bring you...
