Teresa and Lucy are good friends. They also happen to be fun, adventurous collaborators.
The first time we all shot together, we explored an abandoned golf club until a security guard approached us and demanded that we leave. I called the series "Without Incident" to celebrate our having completed the shoot without the authorities shutting us down.
For this session, I used Google Maps to find a new location north of NYC that looked like it had potential. Teresa and Lucy, adventurous as always, agreed to meet there. I arrived early to scout the location and found a locked gate that I thought we could slip through. Once the women arrived, we all squeezed through. (It was easy for them, a bit more difficult for me.)
Inside we found giant mounds of rocks and dirt, a wonderful old truck, and gorgeous reeds. We shot for a while, always aware that at any moment someone could come yell at us. But nobody ever arrived.
I used Ilford XP2 film in my Canon AE-1. We tried to capture the isolation and beauty of the lovely little spot we had discovered and explored.
It's the perfect puzzle of connection – Teresa and Lucy fit together like missing pieces of a tantalizing enigma. They draw you in, leaving you hungry for more, curious about the next chapter of their alluring journey. Zeno recognized the magic that unfolded when these two forces of nature collided, and he seized the opportunity to immortalize their essence.
