Lieven Symaeys: Analog diptych

"People who model in front of this camera are always pretty relaxed because it doesn’t feel like a real serious camera."

A while back we published an article about Lieven Symaeys and his project called "The tiger project". If you want to see his previous work, you can find it here.

This time, we're sharing shots that he took using an Olympus-Pen EES-2, a half-frame rangefinder.
He created a series of "double exposures" not one over the other, but one next to the other.

Actually we wanted to feature another project of his but at the time we asked him to give us more info on that project he happened to buy the Olympus.

Here are his words about the camera and the project:
"I must say it really got me addicted to that kind of shooting with film and certainly to the nice compositions you can create with this little old thing… Don’t expect to get the sharpest results out of this ridiculous small lens, but if you want to tell a little story or collect a portrait with a little twist to it, it is just the kind of tool that will make you really satisfied.

Anyway there’s always an old Olympus-Pen on me or near me when I’m traveling or during a shoot. It’s working as a street photography tool and even for portraits. People who model in front of this camera are always pretty relaxed because it doesn’t feel like a real serious camera.
But for me, I’m dead serious about it, this is the perfect tool to make great arty pictures. And when you shoot 2 nice half-frames next to one another you’ll have an “Analog in camera diptych”."
