Naghi Bernard - Complementaris
"To all the film lovers : never stop shooting film"
Tell us about yourself.
I am 23 years old and I try to make a living out of photography, currently I am a masters student at the University of Arts and Design , dep. of Photography in Cluj-Napoca , Romania.
Tell us about your project - Complementaris
Complementaris is a series of photographs that illustrate the pureness of the feminine body and soul in a complementary contrast with the fruits, which are well known for their mystical and erotic symbolism.
What first interested you in analog photography?
The fact that I can slow down things and actually feel the image and of course the darkroom and analog printing, which for me is pure magic.
What camera makes you click?
The camera is not an important factor for me , the biological eye makes the image not the camera itself, I mostly shoot medium format with my Mamyia C33 and Rolleiflex SLX , but for 35mm I use my Leica IIIb .
What do you focus on when shooting film?
I want to show that argentic feel , and the curiosity on how the light works.
What inspires you most?
A walk in an open field or forests, to see the sky, and to hear the birds singing.
Do you have a favorite analog photographer or analog photography web site you would like to recommend?
My favorite analog photographers are Jan Scholz and Ryan Muirhead.
One more thing I would like to shout out to all the film lovers : never stop shooting film , enlarge as much as you can and be proud that you possess the gift of creating pure and true photographs.
