"Venus in furs" by Mateusz Wiglinzki
My name is Mateusz Wiglinzki and I am a german polish photographer and filmmaker based in Vienna. Recently I found my passion in experimental and abstract photography mainly with analog film. Although I would call this mainly my domain by now, I still love to shoot and work with people and establish new synergies through this. I learned to photograph with an old Canon AE1 and I am happy about this because it taught me cherish each frame and learn to photograph properly instead of picking up an inflationary shooting habit with digital cameras.

The shooting has been inspired by the character Wanda in Leopold von Sacher-Masoch’s novella ‘Venus in Furs’. The novel is set in the 19th century and describes the odd interplay of the sadomasochistic relationship between the main characters Wanda and Severin. The focus in this series revolves around the theme of female dominance incarnated by the model Camilla.
